I have had several people ask me where could they get information on where the 206 Savannah shipmates who died at Salerno 11 Sept 1943 are buried.
34 men – Army Graves Registration, Salerno, Italy for internment.
26 men – Buried at Malta.
100 men – Buried at sea.

206 men total
Shipmate #201 on the list, John Milton Wilhelm, BM 2/c was transferred to Savannah from YMS 62 on 10 Sept. 1943, for treatment of a fractured right ankle.
